Lafayette stops Stony Brook 80-71
EASTON, Pa. (AP)—Andrew Brown scored 25 points and Ryan Willen added 15 points and 10 rebounds as Lafayette defeated Stony Brook 80-71 on Tuesday night.
The Leopards (2-0) used a 16-1 run to take a commanding 18-3 lead with 13:28 left in the first half and coasted to the win in their home opener.
Jeff Kari added 16 points and seven assists for Lafayette, which shot 54 percent (27-for-50).
Muhammad El-Amin scored 15 points, Dallis Joyner 14 and Chris Martin 10 for Stony Brook (1-1), which shot 41.3 percent (26-of-63) overall and 6-for-22 from 3-point range.
Lafayette built a 38-26 halftime lead and led by 22 points with just under five minutes remaining in the game.
