NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Freshman Jeffery Taylor’s 16 points led five players in double figures, three of which were freshmen, as Vanderbilt defeated Morehead State 74-48 Sunday.

Taylor scored 10 in the second half as the Commodores outscored the Eagles 43-24.

Vanderbilt (1-0), which has seven freshmen on its roster, also got 12 points from sophomore A.J. Ogilvy and 10 from junior Jermaine Beal.

Morehead State(0-2), which led for most of the game’s first 11 minutes, got 10 points each from Robert Murry and Terrance Hill.

The Commodores were without freshman forward Steve Tchiengang, who was declared ineligible for the first five games of the season by the NCAA under a policy that involves certain first-year international students. Vanderbilt officials said the ruling was not a surprise. Tchiengang is a native of Cameroon.
