Longwood routs Virginia-Wise 87-44

FARMVILLE, Va. (AP)—Martiz Washington led all scorers with 15 points in his first collegiate game as Longwood trounced Virginia-Wise 87-44 Friday night.

Durann Neil added 14 points, followed by Ryan Bogan with 13 and Dana Smith with 10. All 12 Lancers (1-0) team members got on the scoreboard in their season opener, while all but one grabbed rebounds.

Kevin Perry led the Highland Cavaliers (0-4) with 10 points and nine rebounds. Patrick Fisher had nine points and Josh Jordan added eight. The NAIA school shot only 20.7 percent from the field in the first half, improving to 26.8 percent on 15 of 56 shooting for the game. Longwood shot 43.8 percent for the game, making nine 3-pointers.

Longwood jumped ahead 14-4 in the first four minutes of the game and led 42-18 at halftime.
