Air Force defeats Western St., Colo. 70-64

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AP)—Andrew Henke scored 18 points and Anwar Johnson added 13 to propel Air Force past Western State 70-64 in the Falcons’ season-opener Friday night.

Western State’s Justin Avalos had a game-high 20 points and pulled down five rebounds in a match in which the lead changed 11 times. Air Force (1-0) held a slim lead, 31-29, at the half.

Cameron Burney scored 18 points had seven rebounds for the Mountaineers (0-1). Jeremy Brooks added 13 points and pulled down six rebounds.

The Falcons shot 60.9 percent in the second half to pull away from Western State, which shot just 40 percent in the period.
