Harris leads Massachusetts over Ark.-Monticello
CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP)—Ricky Harris scored 22 points to lead Massachusetts to a 90-71 win over Arkansas-Monticello in a regional round of the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic supporting Coaches vs. Cancer on Tuesday night.
Chris Lowe added 18 points and 11 assists in Derek Kellogg’s regular-season debut as head coach. Tony Gaffney had 16 points and 13 rebounds, and Anthony Gurley added 14 points for the Minutemen.
UMass finished at 46 percent in shooting from the floor and 12-27, or 44 percent, from 3-point range.
Raymond Wright had 25 points and 11 rebounds for Division II Arkansas-Monticello, which trailed 46-37 at the half. Deron Brown chipped in 11 points for the Weevils.
UMass plays in the regional finals at Southern Illinois University on Wednesday. The winner goes to Madison Square Garden for the tournament semifinals and final.
