Simpson scores 31 points in helping Alabama A&M pummel Grambling

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP)—Trant Simpson scored 31 points as Alabama A&M steamrolled Grambling State with a 74-43 victory in the final game of the regular season on Saturday.

The team’s lone senior, Mickell Gladness, finished with 12 points, seven rebounds, and five blocks in his last game at Elmore Gymnasium.

The Bulldogs (14-14, 11-7 Southwestern Athletic Conference) turned a close game into a blowout in the second half by holding the Tigers (7-18, 7-11) to just 13 points.

Alabama A&M led 37-30 at the half.

Simpson and Gladness were the only Bulldogs to score in double-digits and their combined 43 points matched Grambling’s score. There were no Tigers in double-digit scoring, but Jamal Breaux had a game-high 11 rebounds.
