Joe Zeglinski leads Hartrford’s 68-65 win over New Hampshire
VESTAL, N.Y. (AP)—Joe Zeglinski scored 22 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and snapped 62-62 tie with 53.5 seconds remaining, helping Hartford hang on for a 68-65 win over New Hampshire Saturday.
With the win, Hartford gets a spot in Sunday’s America East Tournament semifinals.
No. 7 New Hampshire (9-20) rallied from a seven-point deficit in the final 3:17 to tie the game before Zeglinski delivered a tough jumper from the lane.
Zeglinski, who was just 3-of-11 from the field when he came through with his big basket, made 12-of-12 from the foul line in the game.
The Hawks (17-15) used a 21-5 run over an 8:10 span of the second half to take an 11-point lead. But seven straight points by Alvin Abreu in a 52-second stretch started New Hampshire on its path back.
Warren McLendon came off the Hartford bench with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while senior Mike Christensen had 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Abreu finished with 16 points and senior Gibbs 12 for the Wildcats.
