LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. (AP)—Jason Thompson scored 16 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead Rider to an easy 87-59 win over Fairfield on Sunday.
Harris Mansell came off the bench to hit five 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 17 points for the Broncs (21-9, 13-5 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference), while Mike Ringgold added 11 points and Ryan Thompson had 10.
Jonathan Han had 13 points for the Stags (14-15, 11-7), who hit just 35.6 percent from the floor. Marty O’Sullivan came off the bench to score 10 points and pull down nine rebounds, while Anthony Johnson also had nine boards.
Fairfield jumped out to an early 11-6 lead, but the Broncs—who made 51.8 percent of their shots—soon took control with a 14-2 run fueled by Mansell’s six points and never trailed again. Rider led 38-26 at the break and led by as much as 28 points in the second half, as the Stags could not overcome the Broncs strong defense.
Rider also won the battle of the boards, outrebounding Fairfield 41-33.
