Anderson leads Rams past William & Mary 54-43
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP)—Michael Anderson tied his career high with 18 points and nearly matched William & Mary point-for-point in the first half Saturday night as Virginia Commonwealth beat the Tribe for the 12th consecutive time, 54-43.
Anderson scored 13 points in the first half as the Rams (23-6, 15-3 Colonial Athletic Association) took a 25-16 lead into the locker room. The Tribe shot just 21 percent in the first 20 minutes and went scoreless for a stretch of nine minutes.
William & Mary (14-15, 10-8) got 15 points from Peter Stein and 9 from Nathan Mann, one of four seniors honored before his final home game. He was 1-for-10 on 3-pointers.
Eric Maynor added 12 points and eight assists for VCU, which had already clinched the top seed in next week’s CAA tournament.
