Valparaiso beats Wright St. 75-73 with one second left in OT
VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP)—A Shawn Huff layup with one second left in overtime lifted Valparaiso over Wright State 75-73 in a rare Saturday morning game.
Huff, who finished with 17 points, also added a free-throw on the play to complete a Crusader rally in the Horizon League game’s final minute.
Valparaiso (19-12, 9-9) took a 13-point lead into halftime after the game started at 11 a.m. But the Crusaders then shot 28 percent from the field in the second half, and Wright State (20-9, 12-6) scored 41 second half points. The Raiders forced overtime when Scottie Wilson sank his only 3-pointer with about a minute to play to tie the score at 67.
Huff hit his fourth 3-pointer of the game in overtime to give the Crusaders a four-point lead before Wright State rallied to go up by one with 19 seconds left.
Michael Rogers hit five 3-pointers and led Valparaiso with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Urule Igbavboa added 13 points. Valparaiso outrebounded Wright State 43-32.
Todd Brown led Wright State with 13 points, while Jordan Pleiman and Will Graham both added 12.
