Harris’ 24 lead UMass past Richmond, 78-74
RICHMOND, Va. (AP)—Ricky Harris scored 24 points and hit five 3-pointers Saturday night, leading Massachusetts to a 78-74 victory against Richmond.
The Minutemen (19-9, 8-6 Atlantic 10) led 39-37 at halftime and opened the second half on a 10-2 run. The Spiders (15-12, 8-6) got no closer than four thereafter.
Massachusetts hit all six of its free throws in the last 38.7 seconds to clinch it.
Etienne Brower added 17 points for the Minutemen and also had five 3-pointers, and former Virginia swingman Gary Forbes scored 17, his 32nd consecutive game in double figures.
David Gonzalvez led Richmond with 20 points and Kevin Anderson added 14, all in the final nine minutes. Dan Geriot and Oumar Sylla each added 12.
