Green’s 27 points include winning free throws; SELa. 75, NWSt. 72
NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP)—Kevyn Green’s 21 second-half points included three free throws with 1.3 seconds left to left Southeastern Louisiana over Northwestern State 75-72 on Saturday.
Green finished with 27 points for the Lions (15-12, 7-7 Southland), which won its first regular-season game in Natchitoches since a 75-69 win on Jan. 28, 1985.
Chris Cyprian added 11 points for Southeastern, and Warrell Span and Patrick Sullivan 10 each. Dekyron Nicks made 11 assists.
Devin White led the Demons (12-17, 8-7) with 13 points; Keithan Hancock and Damon Jones added 11 each.
The lead changed 17 times, with 11 ties. Northwestern State led 37-30 at halftime, but Southeastern opened the second half with a 14-6 run and led 50-45 with 13:04 left.
Hancock made two free throws to tie the score at 72 with 30 seconds left.
Southeastern worked the ball down for the final shot. Nicks drove down the middle of the lane and found Green alone in the left corner, where he pump faked and drew contact by Colby Bargeman.
