Janning scores 27 points to lead Northeastern past George Mason 70-59

BOSTON (AP)—Matt Janning had 27 points, six rebounds and six assists to lead Northeastern to a 70-59 victory over George Mason on Saturday.

Manny Adako added 18 points on 9-of-13 shooting for the Huskies (13-16, 9-9 Colonial Athletic Association).

Folarin Campbell scored 18 of his 23 points in the second half as George Mason (20-10, 12-6) rallied from a 12-point deficit to pull within 54-52 with 4:31 to play. But Janning and Adako scored 13 of the Huskies’ final 16 points, punctuated by Janning’s dunk with 28 seconds left.

Will Thomas had 15 points and eight rebounds for the Patriots, who forced the Huskies into seven turnovers in the first 8:32 of the second half.

Down 11-8 with 13:43 to play in the first half, Northeastern went on a 16-0 run, holding George Mason scoreless for 6:46. Adako had 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting as the Huskies took a 30-18 halftime lead.
