Dennis’ layup with 3 seconds left lifts North Texas over Tulane

NEW ORLEANS (AP)—Collin Dennis’ 24 points included the layup with three seconds left that lifted North Texas over New Orleans 79-77 on Saturday.

UNO (18-12, 8-10 Sun Belt) led 71-66 with 2:31 to play, but North Texas (18-12, 8-10) got a layup from Quincy Williams and a 3-pointer from Ben Bell to tie it at 71.

The Mean Green went ahead again, but Bo McCalebb hit two free throws with 6.7 lefts to tie it at 77-all.

After Dennis’ final basket, he bounced a layup off the glass from halfcourt.

A layup by UNO’s Kyndall Dykes rimmed out at the buzzer.

Quincy Williams had 15 points and 11 rebounds for North Texas, which had a 38-29 rebounding advantage.

McCalebb led the Privateers with 23 points and seven assists, and James Parlow had 14 points—12 in the second half. Dykes also had 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting.
