Charleston Southern holds off Coastal Carolina, 65-64
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP)—Omar Carter had 19 points, 11 rebounds and four assists to lead Charleston Southern past Coastal Carolina 65-64 in Big South Conference action Saturday.
Carter completed a three-point play to put the Buccaneers (10-19, 4-10 Big South) up 65-62 with 1:43 left in the game. Chris Moore also had 19 points for Charleston Southern and Austin Johnson added 10.
The Chanticleers (13-14, 6-8) went on a 14-3 run over five minutes to erase an 11-point Bucs lead and tie the game at 62 with 2:03 left in the game. After Carter’s three-point play, Logan Johhnson hit two free throws with 25 seconds left to put Coastal down just one.
The Chants missed two shots in the final seconds.
Coastal was led by Steven Sexton with a career-high 17 points and Anthony Breeze with 13 points and a career-high 12 rebounds.
