Jackson’s 22 point lead Robert Morris to 82-69 win
FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP)—A.J. Jackson scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Robert Morris to an 82-69 win over Sacred Heart 82-69 Thursday night.
With the win, the Colonials (24-6, 15-2 Northeast Conference) clinched their first conference regular season title since 1992.
Jeremy Chappell added 19 points and Tony Lee had 12 points and 10 boards for the Colonials.
Chauncey Hardy led Sacred Heart (16-12, 13-4) with 17 points, while Corey Hassan finished with 13 and Ryan Litke 11.
The Colonials dominated inside, outrebounding the Pioneers 42-29 and scoring 16 points off second-chance baskets.
Robert Morris led by as many as 17 points in the second half, but the Pioneers chipped away with a 10-2 run. Hardy converted on a 3-pointer to pull Sacred Heart within 71-66 at the 2:51 mark, but Colonials were able to hang on.
