Cal Poly SLO 70, UC Riverside 63 OT
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP)—Cal Poly forced overtime on Titus Shelton’s putback with 4.5 seconds left and held on to defeat UC Riverside 70-63 Thursday night.
Shelton’s putback came after Trae Clark missed his shot in the waning seconds and tied the game at 57-57. Both teams then went to the floor to haul in the rebound and Cal Poly (11-15, 6-7 Big West) gained possession on the jump ball.
UC Riverside (7-18, 3-10) had a chance to win it at the buzzer but Larry Cunningham’s 3-pointer missed to the left.
The teams traded buckets three times in the first 3 minutes of overtime with Cal Poly taking the lead for good, 64-61, after Shawn Lewis scored three points.
Lorenzo Keeler led the Mustangs with 22 points, while Dreshawn Vance added 19.
Cunningham led the Highlanders with 19 points.
