Slack’s 20 rebounds lead Ill. State to 68-54 win over Creighton

NORMAL, Ill. (AP)—Anthony Slack scored 15 points and had a career-high 20 rebounds to lead Illinois State to a 68-54 win over Creighton on Wednesday night.

Osiris Eldridge added 15 points and Levi Dyer and Boo Richardson had 13 points apiece for Illinois State (21-8, 12-5 Missouri Valley), which was tied with Creighton 31-31 at halftime.

The Redbirds pulled away after the break on 46 percent shooting, compared with 32 percent for Creighton (19-9, 9-8).

Illinois State also controlled the boards, outrebounding Creighton 45-24 and outscoring the Bluejays 27-9 on second-chance points. Slack’s tally was the first 20-rebound game for Illinois State since 1978.

Booker Woodfox led Creighton with 12 points. Dane Watts added 10 points for the Bluejays.

Illinois State swept the regular-season series with Creighton for the first time since 1997-1998. The Redbirds beat the Bluejays 80-67 in December.
