MVSU sinks Prairie View A&M 63-59 with 21 free throws
ITTA BENA, Miss. (AP)—Stanford Speech scored 19 points and made 8 of 10 free throws as Mississippi Valley State hit 21 of 25 foul shots to beat Prairie View A&M 63-59 Monday night.
The Delta Devils (11-15, 9-6 Southwestern Athletic Conference) also got 15 points from Michael Clark and 10 from Larry Cox in the win over the Panthers (7-19, 5-9). Eric Petty and Carl Lucas had 10 rebounds apiece for MVSU.
Ahmed Khalfan led Prairie View with 14 points, Aaron Smith added 11 and Jonathan Dixon scored 10.
The Panthers were ahead 30-28 at halftime but wilted down the stretch after being called for 22 fouls against the Delta Devils’ 12. Prairie View made just seven of its 14 foul shots in the loss.
