Hill scores 30 in leading IUPUI to overtime win versus IPFW
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP)—George Hill scored 30 points, including seven in overtime, and Gary Patterson had 27 to lead IUPUI to an 88-81 win over IPFW on Saturday.
IUPUI (22-6, 14-3 Summit League) built a 12-point second-half lead before IPFW scored nine straight points to make the score 56-53. The Jaguars kept the lead until IPFW’s David Carson was fouled as he hit a layup and then made a free throw to tie the game at 71 with 1:09 left in regulation.
The Mastodons (12-15, 9-7) took an early lead in overtime, but IUPUI held them scoreless in the last 1:07 while scoring the final seven points of the game, including a 3-pointer and two free throws by Patterson.
Carson led IPFW with 23 points, with teammate DeWitt Scott scoring 19.
Hill had 11 rebounds for the Jaguars, who also got 17 points from Austin Montgomery.
