Lee scores 26 points in W. Kentucky win over La.-Monroe, 86-75
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP)—Courtney Lee scored 26 points to lead Western Kentucky to an 86-75 win over Louisiana-Monroe Saturday night.
The Hilltoppers (22-6, 14-2 Sun Belt Conference East Division) got off to a sluggish start, trailing the Warhawks (10-18, 4-12 SBC West) for most of the first 10 minutes of the first half.
But Western went on a 14-2 run at the 10-minute mark in the second half to take a 70-59 lead and never looked back. The Hilltoppers led 41-34 at halftime
Tony Hooper led Louisiana-Monroe with 26 points, and Raphelle Turner had 12 points.
Western Kentucky coach Darrin Horn said he’s seen steady progress in his team throughout the season.
“What this team has done a good job of all year is that we’ve improved week-to-week along the way,” he said.
