Dennis scores 24 in 82-77 North Texas win over Arkansas St.
DENTON, Texas (AP)—Collin Dennis scored 24 points, including six 3-pointers, to help North Texas to a 82-77 win over Arkansas State Saturday.
Dennis led four players in double figures for the Mean Green (18-9, 9-7 Sun Belt). Josh White scored 23 points and Keith Wooden added 15. Quincy Williams posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. North Texas never trailed in the game.
Adrian Banks scored 26, including 6-of-8 3-pointers, to lead the Indians (9-19, 4-13). Ryan Wedel added 14 points, and Shawn Morgan had 13 points and 10 rebounds.
North Texas used a 17-4 run in the first half to build a 37-24 lead, and led at halftime 37-27. Arkansas State cut the Mean Green lead to 52-51 midway through the second period. North Texas responded with a 21-12 run, which included eight points from Dennis. The Indians outscored the Mean Green, 14-9, in the final two minutes, with all nine North Texas points coming from the line.
Dennis was 9-for-12 from the field and 6-for-7 from three-point range for the Mean Green, who shot 55 percent from the field for the game. The Indians shot 44 percent for the game.
