Taylor scores in lane to lift Florida A&M over Md.-Eastern Shore

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (AP)—Byron Taylor scored in the lane with 8.6 seconds to play lifting Florida A&M to a 62-60 victory Saturday over Maryland-Eastern Shore.

After Taylor scored, Marc Davis’ baseline layup attempt at the other end missed and the Rattlers held on to spoil homecoming for Maryland-Eastern Shore.

Larry Jackson led the Ratters with 21 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field and was 9-of-15 from the line. Leslie Robinson added 14 points for Florida A&M.

Trailing 50-33 with 12:39 to play, UMES used a full-court press and went on a 27-10 run, tying the game 60-60 on Gary Lee’s 3-pointer with 23.6 seconds left.

Ed Tyson led UMES with 26 points on 9-of-17 shooting and was 5-of-5 from the free throw line.
