Maxey’s 20 points lead Jackson St. over Grambling St., 67-65
GRAMBLING, La. (AP)—Grant Maxey’s game-high 20 points included the jump shot that put Jackson State ahead with four seconds left to beat Grambling State 67-65.
Maxey was 9-for-9 from the field and 2-for-3 from the foul line for Jackson State (11-16, 9-5 SWAC).
Jackson State was ahead for the entire first half, which ended 35-31, and led 47-35 with 16:03 left in the game. But a 3-pointer by Andre Ratliff sparked a 21-2 run that put Grambling up 56-49 with 8:46 to go.
Grambling’s Anthony Williams hit a jump shot to tie the game at 65-all before Maxey’s last basket. Williams finished with 13 points and nine rebounds for Grambling (6-15, 6-8).
Andre Ratliff had 18 points and six assists, and Jamal Breaux had 16 points and nine rebounds.
Darrion Griffin and Jeremy Caldwell had 10 points each for Jackson State. Caldwell and Maxey had six rebounds each.
