Rishawn Johnson leads Canisius over Albany, 64-60
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP)—Rishawn Johnson?s lay-up with 23 seconds left helped lift Canisius to a 64-60 win in its first-ever meeting with Albany Saturday night.
Canisius (5-22) rallied from and 18-point deficit down to snap a five-game losing streak. Elton Frazier led the Golden Griffins with 20 points, while Greg Logins had 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Brent Wilson led Albany with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Brian Lillis also had 15 points, and Brian Connelly scored 12.
Albany held a 30-24 at halftime lead, and went on a 15-3 run to build an 18-point advantage.
But Canisius rallied in the second half with a 9-3 run and tied the game at 38-38. A three-pointer by Bob Bevilaqua gave the Golden Griffins a 54-53 lead with 6:14 left that they would not relinquish.
Albany shot 42.9 percent (24-of-56) for the game, 10-of-14 from the foul line. Canisius was 25-of-55 from the field and 8-of-8 from the line.
