Thompson leads Cent. Connecticut St. past Fairleigh Dickinson

HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP)—Shemik Thompson scored a career-high 21 points to lead Central Connecticut State to a 73-60 win over Fairleigh Dickinson on Thursday night.

Ken Horton finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Blue Devils (13-14, 9-7 Northeast Conference), while Marcus Palmer came off the bench to add 14 points and nine boards and Tristan Blackwood added 12 points.

Manny Ubilla scored 21 points—including five 3-pointers— for FDU (7-18, 3-12), while Sean Baptiste finished with 17 points and seven rebounds and Bernell Murray added 16 points.

The teams traded baskets early, with Central Connecticut holding a 32-31 lead at the break. The Blue Devils took command with a 20-2 run midway through the second half.

Central Connecticut also won the battle of the boards, outrebounding the Knights 46-33.
