Uzoh scores 15 to help lead Tulsa past Rice
TULSA, Okla. (AP)—Ben Uzoh scored 15 points and Brett McDade added 13 in the second half as Tulsa extended Rice?s losing streak to 15 games with a 68-37 victory Wednesday night.
The injury-plagued Owls (3-22, 0-12 CUSA), battled hard and trailed just 23-18 with 2:09 to play in the first half, but were outscored 8-0 before halftime. Tulsa opened the second half with a 10-3 run to extend the lead to 41-21 and built the lead to 35.
Ray Reese added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Golden Hurricane (14-10, 6-6).
The Owls, who have lost all five starters to injury at various points in the season, shot just 32.7 percent, including 15.4 percent on 3-pointers. Tulsa outrebounded Rice 36-28 and forced 19 turnovers.
Tulsa, meanwhile, shot 49 percent and 40 percent (8-20) on 3-pointers.
Patrick Britton paced Rice with 10 points and Lawrence Ghoram had eight.
Uzoh broke a 12-12 tie with two consecutive driving baskets to give Tulsa the lead for good.
McDade, who did not attempt a shot in the first half after scoring a career-high 26 points in Tulsa?s last game, scored seven points in the first three minutes of the second half.
He made 5 of 6 field goals, including all three of his 3-point attempts.
