Hackett’s 19 lead TCU over Colorado St. 66-64
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP)—Brent Hackett scored 19 points, including all 11 of his free throws, to lead TCU to a 66-64 victory over Colorado State Wednesday night.
Hackett made four free throws in the final 19 seconds to preserve TCU’s victory. Colorado State’s David Cohen hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer for the final score.
TCU led throughout most of the game, despite shooting only 33 percent from the field to Colorado State’s 52 percent. The Horned Frogs (12-12, 5-7 Mountain West) scored 25 points off of Colorado State’s 24 turnovers and capitalized at the free-throw line, missing only one of their 28 shots.
John Ortiz added 10 points for TCU.
Marcus Walker led the Rams (6-19, 0-11) with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Cohen added 12.
TCU led 29-25 at the half. Colorado State used a 9-0 run to start the second half and take a 34-29 lead. TCU took the lead for good with 14:02 left on a 3-pointer by Ryan Wall that started a 7-0 run.
