Caldwell’s big night helps Jackson St. beat Texas Southern
HOUSTON (AP)—Jeremy Caldwell scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds off the bench to lead Jackson State past Texas Southern 79-64 on Monday night.
Jackson State (10-16, 8-5 SWAC) sat Caldwell and many of its usual starters for tipoff but stuck with them later in winning for the fourth time in five games. Garrison Johnson scored 15 points and Darrion Griffin added 11.
Matthew Miller led Texas Southern (6-16, 5-7) with 12 points and Damian Henderson had 11.
Jackson State outrebounded the Tigers 42-29 and pulled away after leading by four at the half.
