Tuck scores 20 points, Loyola beats Rider, 73-68

BALTIMORE (AP)—Michael Tuck scored 20 points, Gerald Brown added 16, and Loyola beat Rider, 73-68, for its ninth win in 11 games Monday night.

The Greyhounds (16-12, 11-5 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) erased a 12-point halftime deficit and outscored the Broncs 44-27 in the second half to earn a four-way tie for first place with the Broncs, Niagara and Siena. Rider (18-9, 11-5) has lost three consecutive games for the first time this season after winning 10 straight.

Jason Thompson had 24 points and 10 rebounds, Harris Mansell added 18 and Ryan Thompson finished with 15 for Rider. Brett Harvey and Marquis Sullivan each had 10 points for Loyola.

With the game tied at 62 with 3:36 remaining, the two teams traded the lead four time before baskets by Omari Isreal and Brian Rudolph gave the Greyhounds a 71-67 lead with 16 second left. Tuck then made two free throws in the closing seconds to seal the win.

Rider controlled the first half and a layup by Ryan Thompson gave the Broncs their biggest lead, 39-24, with 2:33 left. Rider shot 16 for 24 (66.7 percent) from the floor in the first half and led 41-29 at halftime.

Loyola shot 15-for-26 from the floor in the second half after going 11-for-30 (36.7 percent) before halftime. The Greyhounds continued to chip away and cut the deficit to 51-50 on five straight points by Sullivan with 12 minutes remaining.
