Brozos, Opacic get double-doubles as Furman beats Wofford 67-61
GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP)—George Brozos and Alex Opacic each recorded a double-double for the second time in three games to lead Furman past Wofford 67-61 on Monday night.
Brozos scored 18 points and had 10 rebounds, while Opacic added 14 points and 11 boards as the Paladins (6-20, 5-12 Southern Conference) avenged a 33-point road loss to the Terriers (14-13, 7-10) earlier this month.
Opacic’s layup with 2:43 remaining gave the Paladins the lead for good at 60-58, while a layup by Darryl Evans 50 seconds later put Furman up by four and capped a 12-4 run.
The Paladins made five of seven free throws in the final 42 seconds to seal the win in their final home game of the season.
Junior Salters and Drew Gibson each scored 15 points to lead Wofford, while Noah Dahlman added seven points and 14 rebounds.
