Brooks scores 18 as Sacred Heart wins 73-57 over St. Francis
FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP)—Brice Brooks scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds as Sacred Heart defeated St. Francis, Pa., 73-57 on Saturday.
Drew Shubik added eight points and five rebounds for the Pioneers (15-11, 12-3). The win keeps them a half-game behind Wagner and Robert Morris in the Northeast Conference standings.
Bassirou Dieng led all scorers with 19 points for St. Francis, but the Red Flash (6-19, 4-10) shot just .333 from the floor and committed 22 turnovers.
Sacred Heart led 33-28 at the half, but pulled away when Ryan Litke began a 13-2 run with a lay-up at the 9:39 mark in the second. Eventually, the lead grew to 23 when Ryon Howard hit a jump shot with 2:54 left.
Litke, who paced a productive effort from the Pioneers’ bench, scored 12 points while Howard chipped in eight points and five rebounds.
Marquis Ford contributed 10 points and four rebounds for St. Francis.
Sacred Heart shot .519 percent and out-rebounded St. Francis 32-29.
