Hairston scores 21 points, Towson beats William & Mary, 64-52
TOWSON, Md. (AP)—Junior Hairston scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Towson to a 64-52 victory over William & Mary on Saturday.
The Tigers (10-15, 6-9 Colonial Athletic Association) snapped a four-game losing streak and avenged a 61-51 loss to the Tribe on Jan. 19. William & Mary (13-12, 9-6) shot 21-for-59 (35.6 percent) from the floor and committed 14 turnovers en route to its third straight loss.
David Schneider led William & Mary with 13 points, and Marcus Kitts finished with eight. Josh Thornton scored 14 points and Jonathan Pease added 11 for Towson.
A jumper by Thornton gave Towson a 35-34 lead with 15:42 left and the Tigers never trailed again. Towson increased its lead to 52-38 seven minutes later on a 3-pointer by Pease and the Tribe did not got any closer than 10 the rest of the way.
