Douglas scores 23 points as South Alabama beats Florida Atlantic
MOBILE, Ala. (AP)—Ronald Douglas scored a career-high 23 points on 10-of-11 shooting and Demetric Bennett added 20 more to help South Alabama pull away from Florida Atlantic in a 91-74 win Saturday night.
South Alabama (21-5, 13-2 Sun Belt Conference) snapped a five-game winning streak for Florida Atlantic (12-15, 6-8) with the win, which was the Jaguars’ 14th straight at home.
The Owls had trailed by just three at the half, with South Alabama up 41-38.
But the Jaguars pulled way ahead in the second half and could not be caught.
Domonic Tilford reached double figures for South Alabama with 17 points, followed by DeAndre Coleman with 11. Daniel Hayles also added a spark with a career-high eight assists, five steals and four rebounds to go along with eight points.
Carderro Nwoji pulled in 17 points and six assists to lead Florida Atlantic. Jeff Parmer contributed 14 points and Xavier Perkins added 12 for the Owls.
