San Jose State snaps three game losing streak
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP)—C.J. Webster scored 17 points as the San Jose State Spartans snapped a three-game losing streak by defeating the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs 71-61 on Saturday afternoon.
Chris Oakes added 14 points and eight rebounds as Louisiana Tech lost their 10th straight road game of the season.
Despite having the leading scorer, Kyle Gibson, the Bulldogs shot just 31.7 percent from the floor.
Gibson finished the game with 25 points and teammate Jonathan Clark added 16 points for Louisiana Tech.
San Jose State earned its 11th win of the season. It’s the first time since the 2000-01 season when the Spartans won 14 games that the team has won 11 games in the season. The Spartans have posted 20-loss seasons for the past six seasons.
The Louisiana Tech (4-20, 1-11) came back from a 14-point deficit in the first period to close the score 32-29 when they went on 16-5 run in the final 7:03 minutes of the first half.
It’s the second straight season that the Bulldogs have lost 20 games and just the third time since 1992-93 the team has posted a 20 loss season.
San Jose State (11-13, 3-8) had two other players, DaShawn Wright and Jamon Hill score in double figures. The Spartans for the 11th time in their last 12 games outrebounded their opponents.
