Landry scores 18 in NAU’s 80-76 win over Montana
MISSOULA, Mont. (AP)—Kyle Landry scored 18 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds to lead Northern Arizona to an 80-76 victory against Montana on Saturday night.
Zach Filzen came off the bench to add 15 points for the Lumberjacks (16-10, 8-5 Big Sky).
Northern Arizona trailed 39-36 at the break but surged in the second half with 71 percent shooting. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies (12-13, 6-6) struggled from the field, shooting only 38 percent in the second half.
Northern Arizona led 69-67 with 4:21 remaining and went on a 7-0 run over the next three minutes to take command. Landry hit a basket and Josh Wilson made two free throws to cap the scoring spurt.
A 3-pointer by Ryan Staudacher and a free throw by Andrew Strait brought Montana within 76-71 with 56 seconds left. But a free throw and a basket by Landry helped NAU keep the Grizzlies at bay.
Strait was one of four Montana players to reach double figures, scoring 23 points and grabbing six rebounds. Kyle Sharp added 13 points, while Jordan Hasquet scored 12. Matt Martin came off the bench to finish with 10 points.
The Grizzlies were outrebounded 35-24.
