Crawford leads Manhattan past Marist, 83-62
NEW YORK (AP)—Darryl Crawford scored 19 of his 24 points in the second half to help Manhattan beat slumping Marist 83-62 on Friday night.
Antoine Pearson added 15 points and Chris Smith had 14 points and 10 rebounds for Manhattan (10-15, 4-11 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). The Jaspers have won two in a row after losing eight straight.
David Devezin scored 19 points, and Spongy Benjamin and Ryan Schneider had nine each for Marist (15-11, 9-6). The Red Foxes have lost four of five.
Rashad Green and Devon Austin scored six points apiece to help Manhattan take a 35-31 halftime lead. Green’s basket capped a 12-2 run that staked the Jaspers to a 60-39 lead with 9:22 left. Benjamin scored with 5:11 remaining to cut the edge to 63-56 but Marist got no closer, with Manhattan closing the game on a 20-6 run.
The Jaspers were 28-of-40 at the free-throw line, while the Red Foxes were 7-of-13.
