FULLERTON, Calif. (AP)—Frank Robinson scored 24 points and Scott Cutley had 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead Cal State Fullerton to a 94-74 rout of UC Davis on Thursday night.
Josh Akognon added 17 points and a season-high six steals for the Titans (16-7, 9-3 Big West), who moved within a half-game of first-place Cal State Northridge with their sixth victory in seven games.
Dominic Calegari scored a career-high 25 points for the Aggies (8-16, 2-9), who lost their seventh consecutive game. Shane Hanson added 15 points and David Carter had 14 points.
Davis, which led by 12 points in the first seven minutes, held a 29-27 lead when Fullerton scored seven points in 34 seconds to move ahead with 2:59 left in the first half.
Robinson made a 3-point shot before converting his own steal into a slam dunk. Akognon then made another steal and a lay-up to give the Titans a 34-29 advantage.
The Aggies narrowed the deficit to 49-47 with 14:47 to play but Fullerton used a 10-0 spree to build a 59-47 lead with 12:29 left. Cutley and Ray Reed scored four points apiece and Marcus Morgan made two steals that led to baskets.
The Titans scored 26 points off 24 turnovers in the game and shot 57.1 percent in the second half. Davis shot a season-best 53.7 percent.
