Kingsley, defense lead SFA to 57-43 win over Central Arkansas

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (AP)—Matt Kingsley scored 13 points and Stephen F. Austin won its fifth straight with a 57-43 victory over Central Arkansas on Wednesday night.

Josh Alexander added 12 points in helping the Lumberjacks (20-3, 8-2 Southland) extend their best start in school history since joining Division I in 1986.

Nate Bowie led Central Arkansas (13-11, 3-7) with 14 points. No other player scored in double figures for the Bears, who shot just 23 percent from the field.

Stephen F. Austin entered the week with the nation’s top defense, and the victory marked the 15th time in 23 games that the Lumberjacks held an opponent under 60 points.

Benson Akpan added 10 points for Stephen F. Austin.
