Dorris’ 3-pointer gives Marshall 75-74 win

DALLAS (AP)—Mark Dorris hit a 3-pointer with 0.7 seconds left Wednesday night to give Marshall a 75-74 victory over SMU.

Dorris finished with 18 points, including scoring Marshall’s final eight. His game-winner came off a double screen near the top of the arc, twisting to his right to get off the shot from about 25 feet.

Dorris earlier tied the game twice in the final 2:34, once with his first of two 3-pointers and again with a layup to knot the game at 72.

Tirrell Baines led Marshall (13-10, 5-5 Conference USA) with 24 points and 11 rebounds.

Derrick Roberts led SMU (8-14, 2-7) with 18 points. He hit a layup with 13 seconds left to put SMU back up by two, but Marshall got the ball to Dorris for the winning basket after a timeout.

Markel Humphrey added 12 points for Marshall and Darryl Merthie had 10.

Bamba Fall and Jon Killen each had 16 for the Mustangs.

SMU led throughout much of the game.
