Morris scores 26 points in Long Beach State’s 56-46 win over Riverside
LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP)—Donavan Morris scored 26 points and Greg Plater hit a career-high six 3-pointers as Long Beach State defeated UC Riverside 56-46 Wednesday.
Morris, who made only 4 of 17 shots from the field, made 11 of 12 free throws in the final 1:35 of the game as the 49’ers (6-17, 3-8 Big West Conference) avenged an earlier season loss to the Highlanders (5-16, 2-8).
Larry Cunningham made two free throws cutting the 49’ers lead to 50-46 with 29 seconds left in the game but Morris made six free throws in the final seconds to seal the win. Cunningham led the Highlanders with 19 points.
Both teams shot under 35 percent for the game.
