Sanders leads Gardner-Webb in win over Kennesaw State

KENNESAW, Ga. (AP)—Thomas Sanders scored 30 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Gardner-Webb to a 77-63 win over Kennesaw State on Saturday night.

Both teams went into halftime tied at 42. The Bulldogs (12-13, 6-5 Atlantic Sun Conference) took a 58-50 lead with 11:51 left in the second half on a 3-pointer by Takayo Siddle.

The Owls (6-19, 3-8) cut the lead down to four points about a minute later, but they wouldn’t get any closer. Gardner-Webb went ahead later for its largest lead of the game at 74-59 with 2:38 left in the game.

Nate Blank scored 16 points and had seven rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Ronnell Wooten led Kennesaw State with 16 points, while Shaun Stegall added 15. Tanner Jacobs had 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
