Oral Roberts remains unbeaten in Summit League by beating IPFW
TULSA, Okla. (AP)—Moses Ehambe scored a season-high 21 points and was named homecoming king as Oral Roberts beat IPFW 88-56 on Saturday night.
The 6-foot-6 senior fell one point short of his career high as he ended a shooting slump and more than doubled his 9.1-point scoring average in 22 minutes. He was 8 of 13 from the field after entering the game shooting 35 percent for the season.
Robert Jarvis added 15 points for Oral Roberts (17-5, 12-0 Summit League). Marcus Lewis had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Golden Eagles, who have won 10 straight games.
Ben Botts led IPFW (10-14, 7-6) with 13 points and Jakari Johnson added 11.
Oral Roberts never trailed en route to a season-high point total. Ehambe scored 17 points in the first half to help the Golden Eagles take a 44-24 lead.
Botts’ 3-pointer capped a 7-0 run for IPFW to start the second half, but the Mastadons came no closer.
Oral Roberts soon went on a 10-0 run that included two 3-pointers by Jarvis and two Lewis baskets to extend its lead to 57-33 with 15:27 remaining. The Golden Eagles led by as many as 25 points late in the game.
Oral Roberts outrebounded IPFW 43-26. The Golden Eagles made 8 of 18 3-point attempts, compared to 1 of 15 for IPFW. Ehambe and Jarvis were each 3 of 6 on 3-point attempts.
After the teams exchanged baskets to open the game, Oral Roberts reeled off 11 straight points, including five by Jarvis, to take a 13-2 lead. IPFW answered with consecutive baskets, but Oral Roberts followed with a 7-0 run for a 20-6 lead with 9:05 remaining in the first half.
IPFW soon matched that with a 7-0 spurt to cut its deficit to 31-21, but Oral Roberts outscored the Mastadons 13-3 to end the half, capped by two 3-pointers by Ehambe in the final minute.
