HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP)—Antoine Agudio scored 25 points and Hofstra held Georgia State without a field goal for a 14-minute stretch of the second half in a 57-45 victory Saturday.

Agudio, who entered the game as the 11th-leading scorer in the country with a 22.6 average, was 10-for-15 from the field, including 5-for-8 from 3-point range. The Pride (8-15, 5-9 Colonial Athletic Association) have won four of five.

Leonard Mendez had 12 points for the Panthers (6-17, 3-10), who dropped their third straight and had their lowest point total of the season. Georgia State, which came in averaging 61.1 points, had a previous low of 47 points in a two-point loss at conference leader Virginia Commonwealth this week.

Hofstra was leading 31-26 when Trae Goldston hit a jumper for Georgia State with 17:03 to play. The Panthers’ next field goal would come with 2:50 left, a layup by Ousman Krubally that made it 57-38. That basket started the Panthers’ game-closing 9-0 run.

Darren Townes and Charles Jenkins both had 10 points for Hofstra, which came in allowing 70.5 points—10th-worst in the 12-team conference—but came up with its best defensive effort by far. The Pride’s previous best was 58 points in wins over Drexel and Delaware.

After Goldston’s basket with 17:03 left, Hofstra went on a 12-0 run that included two 3s and another jumper by Agudio and gave the Pride a 45-29 lead with 12:10 left.

Agudio entered the game leading the nation in minutes played at 39.5. He played 36 against Georgia State, leaving to a big ovation with the Pride comfortably in front.
