Bright scores 18 to lead Del. St. over Hampton
DOVER, Del. (AP)—Roy Bright scored 18 points to lead Delaware State to a 67-58 victory Saturday over Hampton in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game.
Delaware State (9-12, 6-3 MEAC) also received 12 points from Frisco Sandidge. Bright, Donald Johnson and Kyle White all had four rebounds for Delaware State, which led 31-30 at the half.
Rashad West scored 19 points to lead Hampton (13-8, 7-2 MEAC), which also had five rebounds each from Theo Smalling and Adrian Woodard.
West hit a deep three pointer with 8:25 left in the game for the Pirates’ last lead, 47-49.
Sandidge tied the game at 49 on a jumper at the 7:43 mark and the Hornets took the lead for good 54-51 when Joe Dickens completed a three-point play with 6:03 left.
The Hornets closed out the game outscoring the Pirates 13-7, hitting 8 of 11 free throws.
