Boston U. 64, Stony Brook 60
BOSTON (AP)—Corey Lowe scored 21 points, including 15 in the second half, and John Holland had 15 points and 14 rebounds to lead Boston University to a 64-60 win over Stony Brook on Saturday.
It was the third straight victory for BU, and the ninth straight loss for Stony Brook.
BU trailed by nine points in the first half, but held Stony Brook (4-20, 1-10 America East) without a field goal for the last 8:58 of the first half and the first 2:35 of the second to take control of the game.
BU (8-14, 5-5) led by as many as 10 points in the second half, but Stony Brook closed it to 64-60 with eight seconds remaining on a Chris Martin 3-pointer.
Martin missed another 3-point attempt with a second remaining, sealing the BU win. BU didn’t help itself during Stony Brook’s late charge, going just 2-for-10 from the foul line over the final 1:05.
Ricky Lucas led Stony Brook with 19 points, while Martin had 13 points. Stony Brook lost despite going 10-for-22 on 3-point shots.
Scott Brittan added seven points and 10 rebounds for BU, which snapped a three-game home losing streak.
