Herbie Allen has 15 points and 10 rebounds in Fairfield’s 66-61 win over Manhattan
NEW YORK (AP)—Herbie Allen had 15 points and 10 rebounds and Fairfield University defeated Manhattan College 66-61 on Friday night.
Mike Evanovich added 12 points and Greg Nero and Jonathan Han scored 10 points each for Fairfield (9-14, 7-6 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference).
Devon Austin scored 12 points for Manhattan (8-15, 2-11), which suffered its eighth consecutive loss.
The Stags outrebounded the Jaspers 22-7 in the first half and 37-20 for the game.
Manhattan led by 12 points with 12:53 remaining before Allen, who shot 4-for-6 from 3-point range, had a four-point play at 11:49. The Stags went on a 12-0 run to tie the game 47-47.
The game was tied seven times, but the Stags led for the final 5:20.
The Jaspers had a chance to tie with 5.9 seconds left in the game but Chris Smith missed an open 3-pointer to give the Stags the victory.
