Eagles remain perfect at home with win over Redhawks
MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP)—Jamyron Steward scored a career high 24 points to lead Morehead State past Southeast Missouri 75-63 on Thursday night.
The win improved the Eagles (12-10, 9-5 Ohio Valley Conference) to a perfect 10-0 at home this season. It is the best home start ever at Johnson Arena, opened in 1981, and since 1956-57 for Morehead State.
Tied at 61-61, Morehead State finished the game on a 14-2 run, including hitting its final 12 free throws to secure the victory.
Maze Stallworth and Leon Buchanan each had 14 while Kenneth Faried finished with 13.
Southeast Missouri (12-13, 7-8) was led by Kenard Moore’s 17. Roderick Pearsons came off the bench for 15.
Morehead State 23-of-46 field goal attempts for 50 percent, while SEMO finished at 41 percent, making 23-of-55. From the free throw line, the Eagles connected on 21 of 27 while the Redhawks were 10 of 16.
