IPFW beats Centenary, 65-44
SHREVEPORT, La. (AP)—DeWitt Scott and David Carson each scored 13 to pace IPFW to a 65-44 Summit League win over Centenary on Thursday.
IPFW raced to a 19-2 lead in the opening run, which spanned eight minutes. The Gents (9-14, 3-8), who were held to 21 percent shooting from the floor in the first half, finally scored again with 11:15 to go on an inside move from Lance Hill.
Meanwhile, the Mastodons (10-13, 7-5) couldn’t miss. Scott led the charge going 4-of-5 with three, 3-pointers as IPFW shot 61 percent from the floor in building a 41-15 halftime lead.
In the second half, the Gents outscored IPFW 10-0 over the first four minutes of play, but failed to score on four more consecutive possessions.
The Gents climbed within 15 points twice, but IPFW regained its rhythm to end any serious threat from Centenary.
Hill led Centenary, which shot 26 percent from the floor, with 14 points. Tyrone Hamilton and Chase Adams each added 10.
