Dansby scored 28 as Belmont beats Jacksonville 85-78
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Shane Dansby scored 28 points as Belmont beat Jacksonville 85-78 Thursday for first place in the Atlantic Sun.
Belmont (16-8, 8-2) hit 16-of-19 free throws to tie Jacksonville (12-10, 8-2) for the conference lead.
Belmont overcame the hot shooting of Jacksonville’s Lehmon Colbert and Marcus Allen who had 24 points each. Colbert hit 10-of-16 from the floor and Allen 10-of-12, including all 3 of his 3-pointers.
For Belmont, Matthew Dotson scored 12 points and Jordan Campbell had 10.
Belmont led 48-41 at the half and was ahead the entire second half. Jacksonville got as close as 4, 66-62, with 8:30 left.
